Yes. The Windows app is free. The license is proprietary to Razer Inc. You are not buying a source-code license. Optional Razer apps in the same installer are also free, but you should uncheck the ones you do not want.
Synapse is signed publisher software from Razer Inc. It installs USB drivers and background services, which is why some antivirus products flag it. Compare the SHA256 on the download page with your file. This site does not host a modified binary. After install, review Chroma App and Cortex checkboxes so you only keep what you asked for.
Yes. Supported operating systems are Windows 10 64-bit (x64) and Windows 11. 32-bit Windows is not supported.
Full support for Synapse 4 on Windows 10 ends on 14 October 2026. From that date until 12 October 2027, Windows 10 builds receive security updates only. After 12 October 2027, Razer will not fix Windows 10 bugs. The app may still open, but it is unsupported.
First-time activation, license acceptance, and software updates need a connection. After a session logged in with a Razer ID, you can use Synapse 4 offline.
Razer does not recommend it. Configuration conflicts are likely. Installing 4 uninstalls 3. To return to 3, uninstall 4 first.
Razer states Synapse 4 supports the devices that Synapse 3 supported, more than 230 models. Confirm your product on the in-app compatibility list. Use Profile Migration instead of a manual profile import.
No. Distribution is proprietary. There is no public GitHub tree for the Windows client. Transparency on this site means publisher name, version, file size, and SHA256, not source code.
Heuristic scanners often flag installer + driver + USB service bundles. If the hash matches and the publisher is Razer Inc., treat it as a likely false positive. Add an exclusion only after you have compared hashes, then turn the shield back on. See the antivirus guide.
Only the Huntsman V3 Pro line stores Snap Tap onboard for use without Synapse. Other keyboards and Razer Blade laptops need Synapse 4 active. Enable it in Customize or with FN + Left Shift.
On-the-Fly Macro Recording needs Synapse 4 installed and running. Without the tray icon, the recording LED blinks three times and turns off.
Razer Synapse for Mac Preview is available for macOS 15 Sequoia and newer on Apple silicon. Device support is smaller than Windows. The button on the download page is a placeholder until that package is attached.
Minimum 1024×720 and scaling at or below 350%. Below that, or with extreme scaling, the window often fails to display as designed.
You can add non-game applications, but Linked Games does not monitor events, telemetry, or activity for those apps. The module is built around games.
Yes. Synapse 4 works with Razer Cortex and Razer Central. Central is no longer required to launch Synapse 4 or Chroma App because Razer App Engine handles that.
Razer documents a manual update check inside Synapse 4. Use it after install so you pick up the 18 August 2026 CPU fix and later Chroma modules.
